In 1851, enlisted Greatcoats were a light blue color called Sky Blue and turn down cuffs were added. Mounted Services (Light Artillery, Cavalry and Dragoons and Mounted Rifles) were issued a double breasted model with a stand and fall collar. The cape for Mounted stayed the same length as the M-1841; that is, to the top of the cuff. Cape is unlined.
Our coat is made of quality heavy weight wool with a heavy natural cotton twill body lining that extends below the waist. For the ultimate in warmth, an optional wool body lining is available at extra cost. Back has two belts with button for adjustment and a split back seam. All styles have raw bottom skirt edges, as per originals.
