Shown above is the 1" wide 1872 thru 1886 Cavalry sergeant's yellow wool stripe and the front pocket detail of the 1872 and 1873 trousers.
Made out of the same facing wool as our chevrons, these leg stripes are available for you to add to previously manufactured trousers.
Please specify rank, branch of service and year you are portraying to get correct color and size stripes when ordering.
Note that in 1872, the Leg Stripe for Hospital Stewards was 1-1/4" green wool and for Ordnance Dept was 1-1/4" crimson wool. In 1873, both these branches had white piping added to their dress coats and dress trousers. Field trousers for these two branches continued to use the solid color stripe without white piping.
