are made from our quality 20 ounce field service sky blue wool with top opening pockets and feature the wide waistband used during the Indian Wars.  A rear cord tie for size adjustment is on the back of the M-1872 model trousers, while the M-1873 trousers have a belt and buckle back- click on the picture to see the back detail.

Both have the double button front closure. Twelve tin paperback buttons are supplied but not sewn on. An optional right side watch Pocket is available. Made in the USA!

The 1872 US Army Uniform Regulations stated that Line Officers (Artillery, Cavalry and Infantry) were to wear Sky Blue trousers. Generals and Staff Officers continued to wear Dark Blue trousers matching their uniform coats. However, the previously worn 1/8" gold welt worn by Staff Officers was deleted completely. From 1872 thru 1900, these officers trousers were to be plain- without stripe or pipe.
