Reproduction of General Stonewall
Jackson's Forage Cap in two versions, original "as new" Cadet Grey
and currently "as faded" Tan.
|
#806-Jackson
A fine reproduction of the cap given to General Thomas J.
(Stonewall) Jackson by his wife Anna in early 1862. This cap
is currently at the VMI Museum in Lexington, Virginia.
Originally the cap was cadet grey in color but has now
faded to an almost tan color. Some evidence of the original
grey color is still visible under the "floppy" part of the front.
Research based on an extract from
the Diary of Major Jed Hotchkiss, dated Dec 10, 1862, and
corroborated by Hotchkiss in May 1893. Thanks to Mr. Harry
McNeer for recently providing this information.
Our cadet grey
wool will not fade like Gen'l Jackson's original cap, so we offer
the cap in both "as new" and "as faded" versions. Our caps are made using
top quality wool and lined with black polished
cotton. The dark blue band receives a 1/2" gold lace and is
then sewn to the cap. The leather brim has a thin strip of
leather binding the front edge. Adjustable leather chin strap
with Virginia State Seal buttons on the sides. Both Jackson caps are
custom made for each order. Custom Caps are not returnable. Please allow
4-6 weeks for delivery.
