Span-Am Cotton Chevrons
1898 and 1899 Cotton Chain Stitch Chevrons for Khaki Blouses-

When the khaki cotton uniforms were adopted in 1898, the Army Uniform Board adopted rank chevrons from cotton in the branch of service facing colors to insure the same rate of shrinkage, when washed. The standard black silk chain stitch outlining the pattern was used.

Made in the USA!

The Army only issued Cavalry, Infantry, and Artillery branch of service chevrons in cotton. Other branches continued to use the fatigue style wool chevrons on cotton blouses.

Chevrons are sold by the pair for you to sew on your sleeves. Or, we can sew them on your sleeves when we are making your coat for additional charge- see each uniform page.

If you need chevrons other than listed here for a cotton uniform, order from our wool chevrons.
